"WiP: The Road to Sustainable Success: Women in Power Leading with Purpose and Resilience"

Synopsis

On the road to sustainable success, every woman in the power sector has an inspiring story of how she reached this point-overcoming challenges, defining her purpose, and striving toward meaningful goals. The key questions are: What drives them to achieve success, and what does success truly mean to them?

Though each journey and purpose may differ, every path reflects determination and resilience, with the shared vision of creating impact that will continue to benefit society in the long run. This session will highlight the voices of Women in Power-leaders who pave the way with clarity of purpose and strength-offering lessons and inspiration for generations to come.

Host Panelist

Supattana Nirukkanaporn, D.Eng. is Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, College of Engineering, Rangsit University, Thailand. She earned her doctoral degree in Electrical Power System Management from the Asian Institute of Technology, following bachelor's and master's studies in electrical engineering, and also holds an MBA and an M.Sc. in Logistics Management. She has held key leadership roles at Rangsit University, including Director of the International Office, Director of the Office of the Registrar, and Director of the Master Program in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Her expertise spans renewable energy, energy management, energy planning and policy, and STEM education. Dr. Nirukkanaporn is also active in professional communities, including WiP of the IEEE Power & Energy Society, CQC of the IEEE Thailand Section, the Electrical Engineering Academic Association (Thailand), and the AIT Alumni Association.

Piyapan Hannarkin is the Managing Director of Operational Energy Group Limited (OEG) and Vice Chairman of IEEE Power & Energy Society Thailand. She also serves as Chair of Women in Power and Women in Engineering (IEEE Thailand Section), playing a pivotal

With an Honorary Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Chiang Mai University and a Ph.D. in Development Administration , Dr. Piyapan has combined technical expertise with policy influence. She has advised the Thai Senate on power systems and national energy strategies, while also contributing as a council member at Naresuan University.

Her leadership and contributions have been recognized with prestigious awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award (2024), Quality Persons of the Year (2024), Outstanding ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Award (2022), and the IEEE Region 10 Women in Engineering Professional Volunteer Award. She remains a strong advocate for sustainable energy development, engineering innovation, and the empowerment of women in STEM.

Nammon Lertchitcharat is Head of the Foreign Power Purchase Agreements Negotiation Section at the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), where she has served for over 14 years. She specializes in negotiating and managing the technical aspects of power purchase agreements (PPA) for large-scale foreign power projects, particularly hydroelectric projects. She has led technical negotiations for complex agreements such as Xe-pian Xe-namnoy, Nam Ngiep 1, Nam Thuen 1, and Luang Prabang, ensuring optimized energy supply, grid integration, and system reliability. Nammon also provides advisory services on PPA negotiations with regional partners including Vietnam Electricity (EVN), Myanmar's EPGE, and Malaysia's Syarikat Sesco Berhad. Since 2017, she has served as an instructor for public and private PPA-related training courses. She holds a Master's degree in Economics and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, both from Chulalongkorn University.

Yada Rungrueang Wisetrat holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Chiang Mai University and a Master of Engineering in Electric Power System Management from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) with the Royal Thai Government Scholarship. Her academic foundation laid the groundwork for a dynamic career in the energy sector.

Yada began her journey with Schneider Electric (Thailand) Limited in 2013 as a Project Engineer. Over the years, she has advanced through a series of strategic roles, including Key Account Manager and Consultative Services Sales Director, demonstrating consistent leadership and a deep understanding of customer-centric solutions.

In 2022, Yada was appointed Cluster Business Vice President of Power Systems for Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos. In this role, she leads transformative initiatives and fosters strong partnerships to drive sustainable growth across the region.

Her contributions to the industry have been recognized through prestigious honors such as the IEEE PES Outstanding Young Engineer Award reflecting her dedication to innovation and excellence in the energy domain.
